Engagement Rings Advice for Young Lovers

When a couple decides to take the next step in their relationship and become engaged, it can be a stressful time for both the man and the woman. Merging your life with another's is not as easy as it seems. There are many factors to consider when planning your future together. Many of these factors should be discussed before the man even thinks of browsing engagement rings.

Before you even begin dating, you should have a clear idea as to what kind of physical traits and moral beliefs your mate should possess. Many women harp on the idea of the perfect man, but this is not always ideal. If you refuse to date someone because his car is too old or the wrong color, it might be a sign you are being a tad bit unrealistic - and maybe a little too judgmental, as well. The qualities you should be focusing on are his thoughts, beliefs, and morals. Material objects can always be replaced and are not of the utmost importance. Having someone you share the same ideals and moral beliefs with is far more important than his driving a nice car.

They say that love conquers all, but there are some indicators in everything we do. If a man lives on a boat, then it is clear that his priorities are shifted towards himself and doing exactly what he wants to be happy. There may not be room in his life for a significant other, much less children. If a women lives with five of her friends in a small house, this could mean she is looking for a man to take care of her because she is financially unable to do so herself. Of course, there are circumstances in life we cannot control, but asking questions is the best method in which to unearth an individual's true intentions. At the end of the day, only time will tell if you are compatible and are willing to accept every aspect of his or her life.

Once you have truly gotten to know your significant other, then you should discuss where the relationship is heading. If your man cannot see himself ever purchasing an engagement ring, then you may want to cut your losses and move on. It will be difficult to start over, but consider it a lesson learned. Staying in a relationship when it has already run its course will only bring heartache and stress. Also, believing you or your significant other will change his or her mind about serious issues is probably asking too much.
